Take heart, don’t take it to heart. The fact that, with a sinking heart, you have seen the heart of your argument collapse (in your heart of hearts you knew it would) spells curtains only for the fainthearted. Be not sick at heart, you know the routine by heart by now: try again – be not halfhearted – fail better. At heart, after all, it’s all about hearts and minds (isn’t it enough that it comes from the heart, that the heart is in the right place?). Have your heart set on no particular, and the general will follow. Blackhearted prognosticator. But what am I doing, wearing my heart on my sleeve? Gladden your heart: tomorrow is another day.
